All change
This blog is partly to remind me of the early days of Freddie's life when I'm old and grey and nostalgic, so when I was recently amused by a friend's description of how she has to virtually sit on her little boy to change his nappy, I thought I'd comment here. Freddie is very wriggly when he's well - (recent nappy changes have just been tearful, angry but relatively easy experiences) and insists on investigating every corner of his changing mat minutely, from every possible angle, including in an upside-down crab posture. I always wish I had an extra three hands during nappy changes - one to hold his left hand which insists on investigating his nappy region, one to hold his right to stop him flipping over and off the changing station onto the floor, and one to lift the lid of the nappy bucket- the normal two hands to change the nappy of course! He often yells in annoyance throughout if he can't be distracted by his aeroplane mobile or a toy, and immediately desists with the racket the very instant he is upright and planted on his own two feet again.

Hi Rosie,
I'm glad Freddie's better. Thomas just started a couple of afternoons at a nursery and seems to bring a different virus home each visit! Anyway, I spoke to someone the other day who sits on her son to brush his teeth! This made me feel a bit better, though, obviously I think these are temporary solutions. Ollie is getting a bit better, but he still shakes his head when we tell him he's going have his nappy changed. I've even started mentioning the potty to try to hurry that along a bit...
At least Freddie has got lots of teeth to face the world with. Ollie still only has 6!
